The Corporate Takeover of Africa’s Food

The UK government is colluding with multinational companies to enable them to gain corporate control of Africa’s food. food-6

In response, Brighton & Hove World Development Movement and Food Sovereignty Sussex will be holding a day of education and action on Saturday 28th June.

This is part of a national campaign to get UK government out of the New Alliance, a G8 initiative supposedly aimed at ending poverty in Africa.  In reality the New Alliance is a way for corporations to enter the food market to control food/seed/land at the expense of small farmers.

More info here:

Please come along between 11am-1pm to visit our stand at hiSbe, the ethical supermarket in London Road, Brighton. Learn more about the issues and take part in the campaign by signing an action card.

We’ll be carving up the ‘Africa cake’ and also letting people know about the upcoming national day of action on the The Transatlantic Trade and
Investment Partnership (TTIP for short) on July 12th at New Road in Brighton 11am – 1pm.

If the TTIP goes through this will have enormous potential impacts on UK food sovereignty including food safety standards and the increasing
infiltration of GMO’s. Let’s make a fuss and stop it in its tracks.
