Six years after they start, approximately one per cent of new enterprises have sales of more than £1 million. More typically, the median sales of a six year old firm is less than £23,000. So why do many people believe enterprise and entrepreneurship is vital to pulling Britain out of recession? In this lecture Professor Storey will attempt to provide some, but not all, of the answers.
