Rise Living Library
Meet ordinary people with extraordinary lives. As part of the Sick Festival Brighton, the Rise Living Library brings together survivors, workers, the Police and others working with or affected by abuse.
Visitors ‘borrow’ volunteer books for up to 15 minutes for frank and open conversation.
Described as ‘beautiful, inspirational and moving’, the Rise Living Library is a chance to hear, first hand, personal experiences of abuse, the impact of violence and about the support available.
A free event – all you need is curiosity and an open mind.
For anyone age 16 or over.
Rise is a Brighton and Hove National Award winning domestic abuse charity. Their Rise Living Library was launched in 2010 to raise awareness and understanding of domestic abuse, promote dialogue and reduce prejudice. It offers a unique opportunity to speak face to face with survivors and those working to support people affected by domestic and sexual violence and abuse. More info about Rise here.
