Fair society, healthy lives
Speaker: Professor Sir Michael Marmot (University College London)
Part of the series: BSMS Annual Discourse
Indicators of overall population health and the distribution of health tell us much about how well a society is doing. The WHO Commission on Social Determinants of Health advocated for action on the wider social, economic, political, and cultural determinants of health in order to improve population health and reduce health inequalities. Sir Michael will discuss learning from the Strategic Review of Health Inequalities in England (Marmot Review) and the recently published Review of Social Determinants and the Health Divide in the European Region and how it can be applied in different contexts nationally and locally to build fairer and healthier societies.
This is a free and open public lecture organised by the University of Sussex. Everyone is welcome to attend, but please book your place as numbers are limited.
