Votes for Women: The Fight for Women’s Suffrage
This free, evening workshop explores the long battle for women’s suffrage in the UK.
7pm, Monday 10 December at The Bevendean Cooperative Pub
From the first petition to Parliament in 1832 to the Representation of the People’s Act in 1928, participants will explore some of the key figures and events of the suffrage campaign, the propaganda and tactics used by suffragists, suffragettes and those against them.
The workshop will be lively, interactive and fun, focusing on lesser known aspects of the campaign, such as the working-class suffragettes, the political rifts within the suffrage movement and the innovative and shocking tactics used to undermine the Government.
