Over four one hour sessions Understanding Crime will introduce
students to key Criminological, Sociological and Psychological
research and theories that attempt to explain why individuals commit
criminal acts. Students will be asked to think critically about the
different explanations for crime and also consider how theory helps us
understand the methods used to control crime in Britain.
Course runs Wednesday mornings between 16th Jan and 6th Feb 2013.

Dr Carlie Goldsmith is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology at Kingston
University. Her research intertests include youth crime, community
safety and social inequalities.
