Come and hear first hand about the destruction inflicted on communities in Colombia by one of the world’s largest coal mines. The Cerrejón opencast coal mine is owned by three mining companies listed on the London Stock Exchange. Come and find out about the struggle of resistance against the mine.

Speaker, Julio Gomez is President of FECODEMIGUA, the Federation of Communities displaced by Mining in La Guajira, Colombia and will be talking about the displacement of Wayuu Indigenous, African and mestizo people in Northern Colombia.

Glory Saavedra (Sussex Colombian Solidarity) is a rural sociologist and human rights activist who has worked with the rural, black, mestizo and indigenous pueblos of Colombia and Mexico.

This event is organised by FECODEMIGUA, London Mining Network (LMN), Sussex Colombia Solidarity, Colombia Solidarity Campaign, and Latin American Indigenous Study Group.
