Philosophy in Pubs: What is Boredom?
How is it possible for humans to be bored? We are equipped with the same code, producing the skills that have seen and risen to the incredible possibilities in Art, Literature and Science, for thousands of years. Most children are imbued with an unending curiosity over everything they see and hear, smell and taste.
If you enjoy talking about the more important things in life you will love PIPs!
Philosophy in Pubs (PIPs) are a group of people who enjoy discussing their ideas and thoughts and learning from each other. No academic or formal background is necessary only a passion for enquiry.
We meet on the third Monday of each month, currently at the Palmeira pub, Cromwell Road, Hove. Normally around 15 – 30 people attend. Groups consist of around 6/7 people and include a facilitator. The idea is for people to engage in dialogue without the constraints of a meeting agenda.
A donation of £1 is appreciated.
Respect for others and their opinions is a fundamental requirement of the group as it encourages people to put forward their ideas without fear of ridicule, intimidation or hidden agenda
