Onward Together – Women’s History Walk fundraiser
Onward Together is a one hour Women’s History Walk led by Maire McQueeney on Behalf of Brighton and Hove Women’s History Group.
You are invited to donate £5 per adult to participate which will go towards the group’s fundraising appeal to put up a statue of Mary Clarke in Pavilion Gardens. Mary Clarke was a prominent suffragette, the sister of Emmeline Pankhurst and founder of the Brighton branch of the suffragette organisation, the WSPU. She was the first to sacrifice her life for women’s vote but there is no public memorial to her anywhere in the UK.
Walk is from 1-2pm. Meet outside the entrance of Brighton Museum in the Pavilion Gardens.
