“Once upon a Windrush ago…”
A series of short documentaries about the perception and treatment of the Windrush generation communities in the UK.

At the S.E.A.S Studio on lower ground floor at the BMECP Centre (10A Fleet Street, Brighton, BN1 4ZE)
As part of the many Black History Month EuroMernet are screening these short documentaries in collaboration with SEAS.
These shorts include interviews which show how the Windrush generation have since then continually beautified and revolutionised many areas of life in the UK including arts, music, cultural and creative industries, academia, business, politics and activism.
They will also screen another short documentary on the Bristol Bus Boycott which had strengthened the people’s united campaign against racism in 1963. The boycott had resulted in ending the racist employment policy of the bus company in Bristol which refused to employ anybody other than white people until then.
After the film, there will be a discussion with the guests followed by Black poetry readings, performed by the local poets and guests, including poems by the Windrush generation poets.
Euro-Mernet Film Club aims to raise awareness on social issues and promote the cultural heritage of diverse communities by screening films from around the world, with particular focus on Mediterranean, Middle East, and the entire Europe.
