NHS privatisation and local democracy- putting the University to work for the people of Brighton.

With Carl Walker, University of Brighton

A light hearted talk based on Carl Walker’s recent academic research on what is happening to the NHS and how the University can play a key role in helping to make sure that the people of Brighton and Hove get to have a dominant say in their future health services.

Covering several research projects that address recent NHS privatisation and austerity cuts, it focuses on health policies, media (mis)representations and reconnecting people to the way that their services are commissioned.

This talk is part of Brains at the Bevy: A series of short and enlightening talks from local academics.

Free, all welcome!

Talks start at 6pm and will last for an hour, including lots of time for questions and discussion.  Tea and coffee will be provided during the talk and all are welcome to stay on afterwards to enjoy the lovely food and drink available at the Bevy.

These talks are organised by the Bevy and Community University Partnership Programme at the University of Brighton and funded by the Sussex Learning Network.
