Let’s Play Some Boules

We’re a group of petanque players of all skills and abilities, meeting every weekend from 1pm (and through the summer months, on Wednesday evenings) at the Peace Statue Terrain on the Brighton and Hove border. We have equipment and a selection of competition-level boules in different weights and sizes so you can try them out and find the perfect boule for your game!

Petanque (french boules) is a great outdoors game of skill (and a little bit of luck) which anyone can play – whether you’re a first timer or a seasoned pro, we’d love to see you down at the terrain!

If you’re a seasoned pro (eg played more than one game!) you’ll find plenty of people to join in with – we use a melee approach to play game: chuck your boules onto the terrain and they’re grouped by closest match to decide the teams. It’s a great, fun way of mixing things up a bit!

If you’ve never played before, but want to give it a go, let us know and we’ll show you the ropes – how to throw, rules of the game, techniques and tips for better play.

The club has a large selection of boules, different weights and different sizes. There’s bound to be one that suits you just right! If you’ve been to one of our meetups before, make yourself known and we can help you choose your perfect boules!

Play starts at 1pm and usually continues to around 4pm. There may be people knocking around just before and after these times, but you’re pretty much guaranteed a game (or some training) if you turn up around one o’clock.

This is a free meetup event.
