Hands off our Schools Public Meeting – No to Forced Academisation

Despite claims of a U turn, the Government still wants all schools to become academies by 2020.
Labour-run Brighton & Hove City Council are consulting on their plans to create a Trust for all the city’s schools. This would be a half way house to a Local Authority Multi Academy Trust (MAT). This would be no different from academisation. MATS are private, unaccountable concerns, not democratic, public education.
Hands Off Our Schools wants locally accountable, fun, creative, fully inclusive schools with qualified teachers for all our children.
Parents, teacher and governors from our own community will be explaining why we must resist academisation. There will be other speakers from Parents Defending Education, the NUT and Let Our Kids Be Kids.
