Hands off Hove Park School

At the end of March, Hove Park School Governors decided to register an interest in converting to an academy without any consultation with parents or the community.

What does academy status for Hove Park School really mean and will it put children first?

If you are worried or want to find out more about conversion to academy status, come to this public event to discuss.

Academy status means:

Removing the school from local democratic control – the school would become a business. Running a Multi Academy Trust takes precedence over running the school

Creating a divided education system – giving money to some children while taking it from others. Parents want the best for their children but do they want it at the expense of others?

Allowing the school to set its own admission policies and turn away local children, employ unqualified staff, undermine pay and conditions for qualified staff and change school hours.

Academy status doesn’t mean:

Raising standards – good and outstanding schools have seen standards decline after conversion to academy status
