French Resistance: myths, lives, and videotape
This illustrated lecture looks at the multiple faces of representation. The case study presents Resistance in France during the German Occupation of 1940-44, with wider, generic references. ‘Myths’ need constant re-discovery and re-appraisal, while ‘videotape’ is shorthand for every kind of audio and visual documentation. ‘Lives’ are at the very heart of the story. Can it now be told?
