Free screening of a film on Herbert Read organised by Sussex Anarchists (meeting at 6pm followed by the film at 7.30pm)
Co-founder of the ICA, Herbert Read (1893-1968) was one of the most influential British art theorists of the twentieth century, as well as a poet, literary critic, BBC radio presenter and anarchist.
In his 1943 essay, To Hell with Culture, Read laid out his ideas for a civilisation based on cooperation in which culture would no longer be a commodity, separated from society, but an integral part of everyday life.
