Clinical Commissioning Group Q&A Session

Clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) are a core part of the government’s reforms to the health and social care system. In April 2013, they replaced primary care trusts as the commissioners of most services funded by the NHS in England. They now control around two-thirds of the NHS budget and have a legal duty to support quality improvement in general practice.

The Brighton and Hove CCG’s Governing Body (equivalent to a Board) are holding an open session. You can meet the Governing body and also talk about General Practice in Brighton and Hove. There will be a presentation on the position for General Practice in the city, including the current challenges. There will then be an open question and answer session followed by the Governing body meeting from 2-5pm in the same venue.

The event is open to the public and the local campaign groups Defend our NHS and Keep Our NHS Public have submitted a number of questions in advance. As you may be aware there is now pressure to put all NHS services out to tender (privatisation) which both campaigns are fighting.
