Event Type

On the distant planet Skaro, evil scientific genius Davros entered an inter-galactic competition to invent the ultimate child-scaring device: the Dalek.

Transmitting their evil doings through televisions, it left children cowering behind their sofas. Light years away on Earth, over millions of years, evolution developed its own organism of terror: the
‘Parent’. This lecture describes how children’s fearful emotional reactions are influenced by what they hear and see, their personalities and their parents, and will try to decide who ‘won’ this competition.

The talk is given by Andy Field, Professor of Child Psychopathology as part of the University of Sussex Public Lectures. Click here to book.
