This 8 week module forms part of our degree-level course in Social Science and Humanities. However we have some additional spaces for those who would like to attend.

We will explore the relationship between media, culture and society. It will be team taught by a number of academics from the School of Media, Film and Music at the University of Sussex and ask questions such as

  • ‘what is leisure and how is it dependent on Capitalism?’,
  • ‘has the turn from a producer society to a consumer society changed the changed the way in which we connect to our political lives as citizens?’,
  • and ‘do social networks help or hinder the production of social and political change?’.

Answering questions such as these is important because they enable us to better understand the dynamics which structure our ever day lives.
