Sex, gender and sexuality in Europe: Sinking in quicksand?
Sex has been the crux of philosophical, legal and ethical debate in Europe from time immemorial. Although there have been many victories for sexual freedom over the last five decades, thorny issues remain and there is no consensual solution in sight for most of them. We need to reconsider theoretical and doctrinal differences and put individuals and families centre stage to ensure that law serves people, rather than the reverse.
