‘Self Health’ is part of a government funded National Adult Education Mental Health Research Project. As part of this project Brighton Friends Centre are delivering free courses in a range of subjects and measuring their impact on the mental wellbeing of those with mild to moderate mental health challenges.

This course aims to provide an informative and practical introduction to digital photography for amateurs and complete beginners. You will learn to locate and apply the creative settings available on your camera equipment to enable you to take better photographs.

You will also experiment with different kinds of photography, how the camera can be used to interact with people and using photography for wellbeing and mindfulness.

Learners will require some form of digital camera, whether it’s a DSLR camera, compact digital camera or a camera phone with advanced settings

These courses are specifically for those with mild to moderate mental health challenges. People can only attend one Self Health course so that as many people as possible can take part in the research project. If you have already completed a Self Health course between September 2015 and December 2016 you will not be able to attend another course.
