The University of Brighton hosts two acclaimed authors for a discussion on the hidden world of the beautiful game.

Come and learn about the crises at the heart of FIFA and the ways Brazilian history and culture is moulded around football.

Professor Alan Tomlinson, author of FIFA: The Men, the Myths and the Money is joined by David Goldblatt, author of The Ball is Round and Futebol Nation: The Story of Brazil through Soccer.

Their expert discussion will include the results of behind-the-scenes investigations of the industry, revealing the use of football by ruthless and, sometimes corrupt, officials, and its expansion under the influence of commerce. Also, the emotional, political and cultural issues that come together for football players and fans the world over, particularly in Brazil.

Supported by Big Screen Brighton and Albion in the Community, there will be a collection for football charity Homeless FA at the event, which finishes in good time for audience members to get to their semi-final watching destination. The game will be televised nearby at Brighton’s Big Screen.
