Evolving in Conversation celebrates National Libraries Day 2015 with ‘Conflux’ Showcase Day of talks, performances, exhibition, dance and workshops.

Saturday 7 February 11am-5pm No booking, drop in. All free

The Programme

11am-5pm
Visit the Conflux audio installation and listen to work by adults from across Brighton and Hove and commissioned writers.

Take part in the Inheritance trail by David Sheppeard. Pick up instructions from the staff desk.

11.30am
Rosy Carrick performs her new work A Blithesome Step Forward.

11.45am
Poet John Agard performs poetry for all ages, including unveiling his new work Voice.

12.15pm
In Conversation With… Writers Alessandra McAllister, David Sheppeard, Rosy Carrick and Steven Lancefield and adults from across the city talk about their participation in the Evolving in Conversation project with photographer Georgia Metaxas.

1-3pm
The Dance WE Made by Tim Casson is an interactive dance performance that invites YOU to be the choreographer – no experience required! Dancers from EDge will roam the space, inviting you to devise original choreography for them to perform. All ages can get involved!

The History Makers by Steven Lancefield – Discover Harvey Milk, Mother Teresa, Charles Dickens and Emmeline Pankhurst in the library and hear their stories and why they instigated change for the better.

What Happens Next? A creative writing activity for all ages using images as inspiration to encourage anybody and everybody to write!

The Dance WE Made performance
Inspired by people’s ideas and stories, EDge dancers perform this unique piece created by combining moves collected throughout the day.

3.30pm
In Conversation With… poet John Agard and writer Lindsay MacRaefollowed by audience questions and a performance of new work Voice.
