The UK Resuscitation Council estimates that there are around 30,000 cardiac arrests outside of hospital every year in the UK.
An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a device that gives a high energy electric shock to someone who has collapsed in cardiac arrest. The shock can potentially allow a normal heart rhythm to resume, and the sooner it is delivered, the better their chance of survival. Increasing the number of AED’s available in public places directly increases the survival rates of cardiac arrest victims.
We are very pleased to announce that Exeter Street Hall has been awarded a fully funded Automated External Defibrillator (AED) care of the Sussex Heart Charity who work hard to promote heart care in the community (http://sussexheartcharity.org).
Come along and find out how easy it is to use. This practical session will include how to assess a collapsed casualty, recovery position, CPR and safe use of the AED. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing you don’t mind rolling around on the floor in. Participation is encouraged but not mandatory.
