In conjunction with the University of Brighton’s Race and Faith Staff Equality Network Group, you are warmly welcomed to discover the incredible Black History of Brighton and Hove and the ongoing impact and contribution of Africans and Caribbeans in Sussex, this Black History Month.

Revealing Brighton & Hove’s hidden past: Brighton & Hove Black History Project

Hear and engage with the stories of Black and Asian men and women and their connection to Brighton and Hove from community leader and University of Brighton Honorary Doctorate, Bert Williams MBE.

As part of this talk there will be ample opportunity for questions and discussion.

Celebrating Africans and Caribbeans in Sussex past and present: Diversity Lewes

The talk will be followed by a wine reception and exhibition of Diversity Lewes’ heritage project, which celebrates diversity in Sussex and tells the stories of some of the county’s most extraordinary residents.

Diversity Lewes Chairman and University of Brighton Alumnus,Tony Kalume, and other community members involved in the project, will be in attendance to tell you more.
